week 7

fusion360 initials

Initials: P Y Z
My initials are actually P.Z.Z but I wanted to avoid using the same 3 letters so I changed the middle character to Y instead.
I had no issues with this exercise.

card model of fusion360 model from week 6

sketch

I sketched the outline of the template first to get an idea of which parts would be needed. I also drafted relative measurements so I knew the dimensions before drafting on card paper.

I used double sided tape to seal edges together so that no markings would be visible. Then I made a roof for the form, which is basically the same as the base except with foldable leaves. I didn't want to glue the roof to the structure because I prefer it if the roof was detchable.

remake of week 5 model: exploring light sources

week 5 model
In my model from week 5, I had very basic light sources which also acted as windows.

As a remake of week 5's model, I swapped out the floor to ceiling rectilinear windows to more organic shapes. I thought this would create more interesting and diverse shadows.

I added a human figure using photoshop.

I chose to entirely make this model out of card paper as it is easier to cut.
However,  paper is also more prone to bending. In my last picture, the right wall was bending away from the platform because of the fan shaped wall attached to it.

week 6

Model

As a secondary room model, I wanted to explore other materials.
In this case, I used balsa dowels to accentuate the colour palette of the room.

I wanted to explore the concept of an open space with a large window. So instead of a sealed square room, I made one of the walls detached with a paper pattern to create a foldable wall.

This was a picture I took by coincidence because I thought the sun looked nice.
I had to hold up the foldable wall because it wasn't attached and often flopped down. :(
I edited out the background and my hand in the end using photoshop.

The model was built in a scale of 1:20, which is relatively large in my opinion.
Due to its size and the fact that the walls are not completely sealed, it was difficult to stick together using only glue and often fell apart.

Fusion 360

As a transitioning space, I modeled the corridor which led to my room.

I had no issues with this.

week 5

paper folding

models of my current room

I created models of my room and some furniture using cardpaper, cardboard and masking tape.
I used masking tape on the inside so they wouldn't be visible externally.
However, you can still see the masking tape on the cardboard one as the edges weren't properly aligned.

I found cardboard hard to cut and had a lot of trouble with the 6 windows on one of the walls.
I used tracing paper as glass.
